Want to learn how to start a clothing website? If you want to learn how to start your own clothing website online, then stay tuned to the end of this video because I'm going to show you step-by-step how to start your own clothing website online like I did with Godlywoodgirl.

Hey, it's your girl Stephanie Rodnez; Founder and CEO of Godlywoodgirl and Creator of the Godlywoodgirl School of Business. In this video, I am super excited to share with you the steps for starting your own clothing website online.

Step 1: Identify Your Niche

The very first step is to get clear on the niche God purposed you to serve in. There are a lot of different types of clothing that you can sell online. You can sell fitness apparel, dance apparel, clubbing apparel, church apparel, work apparel, or regular t- shirt apparel. There are a lot of different types of clothing that you can sell online. So get clear on the niche, the industry God wants you to serve in and this is likely going to come from your testimony. This is likely going to come from your background and your design aesthetic, okay. So if you need help doing this, jump into Godlywoodgirl School of Business where I had the 7 P's of Purpose- Preneurship Academy which helps you get really clear on the niche God purposed you to serve and based on your gifts, talents, background, and abilities.

Step 2: Brand Personality.

The second step is to get clear on your brand. Now that you know the exact niche you're made to serve, you need to figure out how you are going to stand out from everybody else serving in that niche. The way you do that is through a brand personality online. Branding just means that you are different from everybody else. McDonald's sells hamburgers, Burger King sells hamburgers, but you don't mistake a Burger King cheeseburger for McDonald's cheeseburger. Each one has their own distinct brand, you want to do the same exact thing, create your brand persona so that you can stand out.

Step 3: Build an Audience.

The third step is to build an audience of people who are interested in your niche, okay? If you're in the fitness niche, don't build an audience of people who are interested in personal development. If you are in the personal development niche, don't build an audience of people who are interested in fitness. If you are creating products for dog lovers don't build an audience of people who love cats. And this is one of the biggest mistakes that I've seen entrepreneurs making. I made this same mistake myself when I was starting out.

I built this entire email list of people who want to do devotionals. But I don't really like writing daily devotionals, right. So it was completely misaligned with what I really wanted to do, which is personal development; helping women achieve their greatest purpose for Christ. That's what I really wanted to do. Once I understood that shift, I was able to build the right audience of people who are interested in the kinds of products I wanted to make. So build your audience of people who are interested in your niche.

Step 4: Market Research

In the fourth step I want you to ask your audience what they want. I want you to send them an email saying: “Hey, I'm starting my own clothing store or my own clothing website and I want to create clothing or offer clothing that you actually want. Can you reply back to this email and let me know what kind of clothes you want me to offer”? Let them tell you, right, do market research. A lot of entrepreneurs just create what we want and try to shove that on people. Don't do that. Ask your audience what they want from you, and then provide them what they said they wanted.

Step 5: Design Your Collection

And that's step number five design or outsource your clothing collection based on what your audience said that they want. You can design your own clothing by using print-on-demand business models like Printful, Printify, Teelaunch, or Teespring. You can also outsource designs that people have already made based on what your audience wants by using Alibaba, AliExpress or other drop shipping websites. Whichever resource you choose to do, just make sure you choose designs and styles that your audience said that they wanted.

Step 6: Create Your Website.

Now that you have your collection, you're going to go ahead and get those product images together. And now it's time to create your website. Choose your website platform that you're going to use to host your store. I personally use Shopify because it's an incredible platform that is designed to sell products while being an incredible blog at the same time.

Blogging is one of my favorite sources of traffic for my Store. So I love creating optimized blog articles that my audience is searching for. And Shopify allows them to offer quality products along with those blog articles easily and seamlessly. So I love Shopify. Shopify is $200 a month. That's not the only option. You can also use Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, and many different others. Just make sure you do research, watch a tutorial and choose whichever option you like. Just go in, go all in on it don't have buttons. Don't be like maybe I use WordPress and then start designing WordPress and be like: “Oh no, maybe I'll go to Shopify” and go to Shopify. Don't do that. I actually used to have a client who had like three different websites and three different platforms. I'm like: “why did you do this”? Choose one and go all in on that one platform.

Step 7: Do a Tutorial.

Once you have chosen the platform, do a tutorial on that platform. Okay. At the Godlywoodgirl School of Business I have “Launch a Shopify Store Website Masterclass” where I show you how to launch your own Shopify website. There are also tutorials on YouTube tutorials on the website platform itself, do a tutorial first.

I don't want you to get super overwhelmed when you're building your website and then give up. And another option is just to outsource building your website. So the reason why I don't love this idea is because I used to outsource my websites before I learned how to do web design. And the problem is that when you have a change or something you want to add to your website, you can't do it, you have to contact the person who built it for you and wait for them to get around to making the changes. It's very frustrating ends up being very expensive. So for me, after I'd hired three designers to build my first three websites, the last time when I had one change to make and the guy was charging me 50 bucks to make the change. I was like “this is enough”! From there, I invested the time to learn how to build my own website. And now praise God, I can build websites in just a few days. Praise Jesus.

It took a lot of tutorials and trainings to get there. But now if I had to make a change Godlywoodgirl.com, I just make the change myself. I don’t need to hire somebody and wait for somebody to get around to it. That's why I love the idea of you building your own site doing a tutorial. A lot of these websites a lot of these platforms are designed to be super user friendly. But if you just don't want to do it at all, that's fine, outsource it. Just find a reliable designer who will make changes for you quickly.

Step 8: Build Your Website.

Once you've done the tutorial, go ahead and build your site, upload your clothing that you are going to be offering to your audience. Make sure you have a great “About You” page, a great blog section, a great place to house your store, make your store look beautiful, and have nice quality descriptions that are search engine optimized. Make sure you make the website look presentable and secure. Okay, and now go ahead and build it out.

Step 9: Launch Your Website.

The ninth step is to launch your website to your audience. In the School of Business, I teach you my strategy for how I do product launches. And it's very much based on Jeff Walker's Launch strategy. He has a book that you can get on Amazon. It's also based off of Ryan Deiss’ Game Fear Logic Strategy. He has a book you can get on Amazon and it's based off of Russell Brunson’s Indoctrinations Sequence he also has a book you can get on Amazon. I've been doing this for a long time so I've kind of tested out a lot of different strategies and put different things together.

I teach that strategy here Godlywoodgirl in the Product Launch Masterclass in the Godlywoodgirl School of Business. However you choose to launch your store to your audience, just make sure you give them multiple marketing touchpoints. And what that means is you tell them about your store multiple times, not just once, and then you're done. Send them broadcast emails, regular updates about the store new products that you're adding, you can do YouTube hauls, and really fun things like that, to keep your audience aware that your store is open and ready to give them amazing products that they asked you for.

Step 10: Rinse and Repeat.

The tenth step is to rinse and repeat. As you're building your audience, and as your audience continues to grow, their needs will continue to grow. So keep asking them: “what would you like me to add to the store next”? Let them tell you and then create products on your online clothing store that matches what they told you. Keep doing this over, over and over again. So I pray you enjoyed those tips on how to start your own clothing website if you want my help make sure you come into the Godlywoodgirl School of Business where I teach you how to build your own audience online using the power of sales funnels and an email list. It's an incredible strategy. It's what I use here at Godlywoodgirl and I absolutely adore it.

ABOUT GODLYWOOD GIRL

Hey sis! It's your girl Stephanie Rodnez, founder & CEO of Godlywood Girl, and I want to welcome you to the Godlywood Girl sisterhood. If you're a woman who loves the Lord and wants to live His greatest purpose for your life as a Christian entrepreneur, then I created this website especially for you.

I started Godlywood Girl in 2013 as a way to help myself heal from the heartache and trauma of failing at my first business. You see, I was a filmmaker creating movies for Christian youth groups, but a series of bad decisions and mismanagement led to me almost having to declare bankruptcy on my first business.

For two years I sat in depression from the failure of that business, until one day, a video by Dr. ET Thomas inspired me to get back up and step into my purpose again. As a result, I got back to my God-given purpose as a Christian entrepreneur, and Godlywood Girl was born. My goal with Godlywood Girl is to connect you with the resources you need to achieve your greatest purpose for Christ as a Christian entrepreneur.

Whether you're just getting started on your journey, or you're a seasoned purposepreneur in the biz, I want to welcome you to the Godlywood Girl sisterhood. You are my sister, and I can't wait to connect with you online.

xox,

Stephanie (Godlywood Girl) Rodnez
